Sexual abuse is devastating to its victims, whether it occurs at the hands of a family member, mentor, teacher, caregiver or stranger. The mental and emotional scars left in the wake of sexual abuse can last a lifetime.

The lawyer at Justice For Abuse help victims of sexual abuse and assault, and we understand how important it is for victims to get justice. Sexual abusers must be held accountable; likewise, people in a position of authority, who fail to protect those in their care, must also be held responsible for what happens on their watch.

What people are saying

"Erik is a jack of all trades. He always achieves amazing results for his clients, regardless of the type of case it is. He is patient, experienced, aggressive, and strategizes for the best outcome. "

Lils N.

Yelp

"I would give 10 stars if I could. I spoke with 30 law offices before selecting him, and I could not have made a better choice. He took the time out to speak with me about my case. On the day before my hearing, despite having a full day scheduled of hearings for other clients, he took the time out to take my call (without an appointment) and answer my questions. He is without a doubt the best choice "

Juan Z.

Yelp

"Erik helped me resolve a dispute with a former employer regarding compensation. Throughout the process he was communicative and efficient in dealing with the various issues that arose. He did what he said he was going to do when he said he would do it. Hopefully won't need him again, but won't hesitate to reach out if I do! "

Scott B

Yelp

"I called Erik about a severance dispute with a former employer who let me go two days prior, he jumped into action immediately and addressed the issue same day. He's the right type of aggressive to get you what you need done. My employer agreed to my demands immediately. Highly recommend Erik."

Given the stressful event you may have gone through, he'll take a great burden off of your shoulders and make the process a lot easier for you. Frequently Asked Questions

If my child is a victim of sexual abuse, does talking to them about it afterward make it worse?

A child should not feel that they are being forced to talk about being sexually assaulted. Be careful that you are opening the door for them to talk, but not forcing them through the door. Most children will open up when they are ready. It will help them to get to that point by knowing that when that time comes, you will be there for them.

I am fearful that I will not know that my child has been a victim. How can a parent tell?

Unfortunately, some children never tell that they have been victims of sexual abuse. However, the more informed parents are about what to look for, the better the odds are that they will recognize that something has happened to their child. Learn to keep close tabs on your instincts and look for any change in your child’s behavior that is concerning. Do not dismiss thoughts that something might be wrong.

What Are My Legal Rights if I Was Sexually Abused as a Child?

In 2019 California passed AB 218, which amended the state’s civil statute of limitations on child sex abuse. AB 218 extended the age to file a claim for sexual abuse to 40 years old or within 5 years of abuse discovery. This is a massive increase from the previous limit of 26 years old and a 3-year discovery period.

How Do You Prove a Molestation Case?

Child sexual abuse can take many forms and be difficult to prove, especially if the physical injuries are no longer present. However, many physicians and behavioral specialists are able to spot the warning signs of sexual abuse in children and can help build a strong case against the abuser. Our lawyers are experienced in working with the right experts to help with your claim.

The perpetrator is now dead. Can I still file a claim?

Yes. A claim can be filed against the estate of the perpetrator. However, there are very strict and short time restrictions for doing so.
